a letter to myself at 20
You're jobless and live in a shithole. Your relatives treat you like an afterthought. Some even consider you a failure. You have a massive debt to pay, and Dad's businesses keep spiraling down. Despite all of that, please try not to be so stressed out. Things will work out fine. In a few years, you'll have a job you never dreamed of. You'll have built a family home bigger than currently plausible. There will be a woman by your side who actually gives a shit. You'll have a car, and the most popular dining places of the city will be at your fingertips. Work hard but sleep easy.
Time will fly fast, and shit you're eating will come back to haunt you. Stop this recklessness. Don't think the younger body will protect you from everything.
You're going to lose dear and close family members. Your dreams will be crushed. The trajectory of life will become questionable. You'll face painful situations. Life will kick you so hard you'll consider death an easier alternative. But you know what? You'll manage. You'll survive and keep on living. Don't let anything break your spirit. Your family's spirit directly correlates with yours.
Spend time with family while you still can. They won't be here forever. Life won't ask for your permission to shatter everything when you expect the least.
You're worth more. Stop treating your time like there is a limitless supply. Stop letting people walk all over you. Stop thinking you're not "worth it". You're every bit "it" and more. Value your time. Value yourself. You deserve it.
Read. For love of whatever. Read. Expand your mind. Stop watching so much wrestling. That shit isn't helping you become the person you're meant to be.
Write. You've buried this passion inside of you for far too long. Start saying 'yes' to this talent.
Embrace consistency. The underrated power habit. Stop chasing every shiny frog. Stick with something long enough. You'll end up spinning your wheels and spreading yourself too thin. Not worth it.
In the end, you'll make it to a better place. Hang in there.
